Vermilion's Community Hub

Our Story

Helping people discover their passion and live the good life — right here in central Alberta.

New Ideas for Living

The Good Life Institute believes that people can live fuller, happier, healthier, and more productive lives through educational experiences in a pristine, natural setting — away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

We are a community-driven organization based in Vermilion, Alberta, dedicated to helping residents and visitors discover their passions, learn new skills, and connect with one another through signature annual events.

What We Stand For

Three pillars that guide everything we do at GLI.

Learn It

We create opportunities to discover new skills, perspectives, and passions through hands-on events and workshops designed for all ages.

Live It

We foster community connections that bring Vermilion alive — celebrating local food, art, culture, and sport throughout the year.

Take It Further

We inspire participants to carry their experiences beyond the event — building healthier, happier lives and stronger communities.

Vermilion's Secret Sauce

The Good Life Institute was born from a simple but powerful idea: Vermilion, Alberta is a special place, and its people deserve world-class community experiences right in their own backyard. What began as a vision to bring people together through shared learning and celebration has grown into four beloved annual events that thousands of residents and visitors look forward to each year.

From the high-energy challenge of the Race of Vermilion in March, to the culinary adventure of Taste of Vermilion, the creative spirit of Art in the Park, and the sophisticated elegance of SAVOR in November — each event is crafted with care to bring out the best in our community.

We are proudly supported by local sponsors, dedicated volunteers, and the remarkable people of Vermilion who show up, participate, and make these events exceptional year after year.

"Vermilion has The Good Life Institute that really works to promote their community and I think that is an awesome unique thing that I continue to follow and others should too."

— Barb Sojquist, Small Communities Champion & Former Mayor of the Village of Edgerton
